This morning, I was at the water cooler making my morning cup of tea. The new crazy student showed up and started talking. And didn't stop. She wasn't talking about anything, and I said good morning and answered direct questions, but I did not contribute to the conversation. The less I talked the faster and louder she talked. She was so obviously uncomfortable with silence, and I really wanted to tell her to shut up. Why does that happen? Why is it so unpleasant to just be silent when you don't have anything of relevence to say?
Also, I just stole the red lable tape out of the lab, and I'm not giving it back.
