Several weeks ago a horrible catastrophe occurred. The hot water spout on the water cooler in my building broke. It was replaced fairly promptly, and life would have gone back to normal, except that the new spout was all kinds of high tech, and most of us broke it at least once before we figured out how to work it. It was a quick fix to snap it back into place, but eventually, it was snapped off enough times to stop working. This time the problem was not remedied nearly so quickly. After a day or two of microwaving water for tea in disposable tupperware that sits around in the area, and consequently drinking tea that tasted like macaroni and cheese, everyone traded in their nifty stainless steel travel cups for microwavable mugs. There was much grumbling because everyone knows that tea made with real boiling water is better and that water heated in the microwave gets cold more quickly. Finally the company that delivers our water paid attention to the nasty notes and brought us a shiney new water cooler to replace the ancient one. We were all ready to live happily ever after when we realized that the new cooler's hot water is not hot enough to properly steep tea! Or keep my hands warm. Oh the suffering!
Amanda- no, the heckling was not about my socks. It was because I had to go to class. Had it been about my socks, it would have been tragic as the penalty for saying negative things about my socks would have been death. Keep that in mind.

I would never heckle your socks. But I will heckle you about being spoiled with your fancy water cooler/heater and proper tea making requirements.
I guess I should have pointed out that the need for a "fancy water cooler/heater" in the first place comes from the fact that we are in the middle of nowhere. City water doesn't reach out this far, so the water from our faucets is not potable.
