In which my last post was a complete lie

I swear this experiment has taken on a life of itsown and is trying to kill me. Here's how:

July 16 Drained tanks

July 17 Arranged to borrow chillers

July 19 Told that borrowed chillers are too small despite assurance of owner that they were fine

July 20 Told tanks may be unstable

July 20-22 Various fun activities to get my mind off the impending doom resulted in nearly being arrested

July 23 Told tanks are “probably okay”, decided to use them anyway

July 24 Arranged to borrow bigger chillers

July 25 Lined tanks, inherited a pile of cinder blocks, was informed that in combination with my large tanks, they would be a useful tool for drowning oneself

July 26-27 Borrowed and installed bigger chillers

July 27-29 More distracting activities, though these had a more celebratory air

July 30 Filled tanks, caught jellyfish, started experiment, discovered that method sucks and tested several alternatives including one that required a snorkel, dropped an important piece of equipment into tank and had to jump in after it, advisor and safety officer would be appalled, roommate threatened to call my mother

July 31 Told that part for big chiller has not arrived, will likely be in by Thursday, experiment delayed, considered putting those cinder blocks to the suggested use

August 1 Still waiting for part, adopt an “it’s not that bad” attitude

August 2 Chillers are working but the tank linings have failed. Tanks must be drained, jellyfish and lining removed, refilled, and new jellyfish caught, abandoned above attitude and switch to “this sucks”

I finally finished draining and refilling the tanks (it takes about 3 hour each) only to discover that the tide is too low to scoop jellyfish from the dock, and the jellyfish are not out anyway. If this isn’t the last disaster involved in this experiment, I am so quitting. Or at least throwing a monumental temper tantrum about it. If we’re lucky, I’ll get to throw my fit in front of a reporter who has asked to come out to interview me about my work and to take some pictures.
