Tonight's the night

This week we are hosting our biannual Ian Morris Scholar. That means seminars, and receptions, and free food all week. It’s actually great, but it gets to be a little much to be at work ALL THE TIME even though you’re mostly socializing. Thankfully tonight’s event is by invitation only. I wasn’t important enough to get the invite, so I have the night off. Completely off. No boyfriend, no roommates, no responsibilities. I’m going home early. I’m taking a shower long enough and hot enough to shave one, maybe even both of my legs. I’m ordering a pizza. I’m opening a bottle of wine. I’m selecting a chick flick from the large selection. And I’m parking on the couch with my knitting. I'm living on the edge. Don’t try to stop me.

Okay, what’s actually going to happen is probably more like I’ll go home at the regular time. I will get the shower. I’ll eat whatever I find in the frig that’s not alive. I’ll fold the piles and piles of laundry on my floor. Since I’m such a nice person, I’ll agree to do rounds for the roommate whenever she realizes that she’ll be getting back late from the event (she’s an organizer of the whole week and therefore important enough to get the invite). If I’m lucky, that’ll leave me time to knit a few rounds and catch a rerun of Project Runway or something like that. But it’s early, and I haven’t had breakfast yet, so don’t burst my bubble about Plan A just yet.
