Global Warming

Damn, does a girl have to answer her own questions around here? This should of some interest to those of you who wonder why Richmond is a wanna be Seattle or London, what with all the rain. For the record I still don't understand how we're going to have another Ice Age although Maggie has explained it to me before.

So far:
Human activities have altered the chemical composition of the atmosphere through the buildup of greenhouse gases – primarily carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. The snow cover in the Northern Hemisphere and floating ice in the Arctic Ocean have decreased. Globally, sea level has risen 4-8 inches over the past century. Worldwide precipitation over land has increased by about one percent. The frequency of extreme rainfall has increased throughout much of the United States.

So what?
Increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases are likely to accelerate the rate of climate change. Rising global temperatures are expected to raise sea level, and change precipitation and other local climate conditions. Changing regional climate could alter forests, crop yields, and water supplies. It could also negatively impact human health, animals, and many types of ecosystems.
