Eh.

Roasted chick peas:
There are a lot of recipes out there. The one I used was most similar to this one, but without all of the spilling and swearing. I seasoned mine a bit differently with the olive oil, a splash of Worcestershire sauce, salt, and a little garlic. The result was okay. Most were nicely crunchy, but a few remained squishy and mealy. I assume this means they needed a little longer in the oven. Rather than eating hand fulls of them as snacks, I'd say that they would be best used as a replacement for croutons on a salad. Since I've never been terribly upset by the idea of a salad with no croutons at all, this is not a substitution that I feel inclined to commit to. I may try this one more time (mostly because I bought two cans of chick peas), but with honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Knitting progress:
None. The house was entirely too cold to knit last night. We've been playing the zone heating game in an attempt to not spend a fortune on heating oil this year. This means that the thermostat is set to an absurdly low temperature, but we use small electric heaters to warm up rooms that we are actually in. This system is a little unpredictable. Some nights I end up stripped down to my lowest layer, socks off, pants rolled up to my knees because it is HOT. Of course, we don't notice this and turn off the heat until it is already happening. Other nights, it doesn't seem to matter how hard the little heater works, it just can't seem to make any progress. Those nights end with a blanket pulled up over my ears, many cups of tea, and no knitting.
