Self portrait

This year, I didn't plant anything because last year's "gardening" was such a spectacular bust. But then I found a cucumber seedling in the free pile at work. I decided that since it was in need of a home, I'd give it a try, so I potted it on the front porch, watered daily, and didn't expect much. But it has actually produced a completely respectable cucumber,

with possibly as many as five more already on the way.

That beats the heck out of last year's two cherry tomatoes, and 4 baby bell peppers.

Also, I can't really stop on the blue berries. I picked another gallon. J's been eating them straight from the freezer by the bowlfull, so I'd love to pick more in an attempt to still have some stored in February, but sadly, the freezer is coming very close to capacity.

2011 Fruit Count:
Fresh fruit personally picked: 12 quarts (3 gallons!) strawberries
7 quarts of blueberries
6 quarts of tart cherries
1 cucumber

Jam canned: 10 pints of strawberry
7 pints of blueberry
5 pints of cherry
