How much is too much?
... to spend on yarn?
I just looked at the price tag on all the wool I'm going to need to make the blanket that I want to make for myself. It's going to cost $165. That's not really bad for a custom dyed, hand knit, 100% wool blanket. On the other hand, I still have to dye it and knit it. Which brings up the question of dying supplies. I'll need to spend another ~$30 for that. Plus I'm thinking of trying a technique that I've never tried, so if I screw anything up, I'll have to buy more yarn and dye. Maybe this is the kind of project you don't start until you have a real job.
