1. J's surgery was Wednesday, and it went well. He's a terrible patient, and I think he'd probably say the same of me as a nurse, at least in terms of bedside manner. The recovery is going better than expected, which is a step in the right direction. He's on his way back to training now, and we'll see how that goes.
2. We went to the most lovely Fourth of July BBQ ever. The guest list was small but varied and relatively adult (as compared to the usual cheap beer swilling, drinking game playing company). Everyone was interesting, the food was good, the mood was relaxed, and the Mojitos were plentiful. There was a mighty clash of stubborn attitudes before I finally convinced J to get out of bed to go, but it was totally worth it. At dark, we walked to the park to watch the fireworks. The photo above was taken by a friend who's recently taken up photography.
3. I'm going to try to start my experiment this week. It's not going to work, but I'm pretty sure a failure or two are a requirement, so best to go ahead and get that out of the way now.
