Today I got an email from a professor in Alaska with a link to a marine science news letter. The news letter in turn had a link to this:
(I'm explaining my source to emphasize the fact that this is not just some random liberal internet propaganda...it is an article that respectable members of the scientific community consider worth circulating.)To summarize, more than a handfull of our representatives and their supporters think that environmental degradation is a sure sign that the end of times is at hand. Furthermore, they think that environmental research and conservation efforts are a wrongful attempt to stop what is prophesied in the bible (not to mention that global warming and fossil fuel shortages are all lies). And finally, many conservative representatives and a liberal or two who don't openly agree are voting in accordance with these ideas to gain the favor of the huge block of religious right voters.
All other religious and philisophical arguments aside, if disagreeing with these sons of bitches and fighting tooth and nail to stop them buys me a seat in "hell", then sign me up!
Moral: It is time NOW for liberals and others who don't want our lives to be controled by a small group of cult leaders to start working together to stop the nonsense instead of focusing on our individual causes however worthy they may be.

On a funny note, one religious leader suggested that christians should take over the world and reinstate old testament law...Does anyone know any modern christians who would survive old testament law?
The problem is that people dont truley understand the things they follow, they would be willing to follow old testament laws, but only because they they have no idea what they were
Maggie, it's good to see the flame still burning in a new generation. Please fight, but remember, it's a lifelong battle. As they say, one either submits, or goes insane (or, rather, one would have to be crazy to fight this fight, considering the odds). You've met me. Insanity is not that bad, is it? lol (uh, maybe i shouldn't use my self as an example) Anyway, good luck.
Oh Maggie, one other thing. Welcome to the world of relative morality. Who needs ethics?
